.history.

Meghan was born as the youngest of five children to the Rayla-allied Korin house Tullia, and complications from her birth rendered her mother unable to have any more children. forever destroying any dreams Meghan might have of having a little brother or sister. Someone younger that her siblings could tease instead of her. Instead, Meghan put up with teasing, none of which escalated beyond what's fairly standard for most families. Meghan never quite grew accustomed to being teased, though, and felt often that the jibes and joking insults were meant in earnest.

Meghan loved fairy stories and legends, and loved the story of Lady Egwene most of all. It was a terribly, terribly sad story, and so beautiful, and from that moment on, Meghan decided she wanted to be pegasus knight. Her parents had few qualms as long as she did what she was told, attended all her lessons, and took up riding to prepare herself for what being a pegasus knight entailed.

Since she was eight, Meghan has done eveything her parents have asked her. She's never missed a lesson, not even of mathematics, which she hates, and she's never missed a day of training, though her skills with the lance are still less than perfect. She's never given any mouth back to her siblings, cleared her plate at every meal, and did her best not to cry too hard when she was upset. And for a while, things seemed to be paying off. Her parents agreed that, when she was ten and winter had settled over Tullia, Meghan could take a small squadron of knights -- all female -- to help her capture her own pegasus, and train it once they were back on Tullian ground.

The months leading up to Meghan's tenth birthday were not kind to her ambitions, however. Rebels, presumably some from the northern reaches of Tullia's lands, hungry, starving, sick, and desperate, attacked Tullia, drawing on their troops to defend what Tullia had. The rebels were merciless and determined to get what they wanted, and so Lady Eve's letter calling the banners of Rayla to arms arrived in the midst of things. Meghan's father hurried to respond to Lady Eve, explaining the situation, and Meghan just started to hope that maybe everything would be over by the time winter came again. The attacks subsided a little, and what Tullian troops could be spared were sent to Rayla, and Meghan dared to hope.

Word of Lady Eve's proclamation swept through the House and out again, but the rebels were amassing their strength again, and Lord Norton had to strike at them while he still had the choice and the ability to do so. It was after the battle (which the rebels had already begun to call a "slaughter") before the weight of the proclamation sank in. Dame Trista, a messenger of Tullia's, sent toward the border to do some business with the merchants there, had been ambushed and killed by bandits along the way. She was dead, her pegasus either dead as well or sold to some caravan or black-market trader.

Meghan never had the courage to ask her parents about pegasi again. She already knew the answer, and had from the moment they'd stopped making her go to her riding lessons.

.personality.

Meghan doesn't try to be a pessimist, but she often ends up inadvertently being one. She tries to believe in miracles and happy endings like she read about in stories, but then there are so many sad endings, too, and so she ends up often losing hope at the tail end of a long string of optimism and admittedly-shaky faith. The recent problems that have arisen connected to her now-obsolete dream of being a pegasus knight have only depressed her more. She's built so much of her life and hope around someday riding a pegasus that now all of her life besides that seems to have faded into the background. It's like a puzzle with more than two-thirds of the pieces missing: what's left may be the beginnings of a hope, a life, a dream, but it's all very disconnected and doesn't make sense.

Meghan is still incredibly fascinated by fairy stories and legends, and has a bookshelf full of them: stories from Korin, stories from Atsiria... the stories from Hanalan are her favorites, full of fae and flowers and animals that speak and everything that makes her smile and laugh. Her favorite of all, however, remains the story of Lady Egwene, who she had planned to name her pegasus after once she'd caught one. She also has a collection of pegasus-related things: tiny glass pegasi, stuffed pegasi, porcelain pegasi, each with a different name and meaning attached to it (or, as Meghan would argue, attached to her).

Meghan loves all of her family very much, but often tends to take their words and actions to heart. She takes teasing seriously and gets very embarrassed (and sometimes, depressed) over the words that are said to her; when her siblings are upset about something, she tends to take those emotions into herself as well, demeaning herself and wondering if it might be her fault. She even blames herself a bit for her chances of being a pegasus knight getting taken away, even though she knows that it's not her fault and it's fairly pointless to see it in such a way.

.appearance.

Meghan is short and skinny, with blonde hair she tends to cut short and tie back with ribbons. She has bright green eyes and tends to dress very informally. She's very shy, tending to keep quiet when speaking to anyone and stammering when she tries to (if she tries at all).
